Lunch Ladies Mini Group Dec

The small group within New Friends, the Lunch Ladies, got together at Cracker Barrel in Springville for their yearly Christmas lunch.
The Lunch Ladies meet once a month in each other's home for lunch (of course) and to share and instruct each other on a quilt that they are all working on at the same time.  The quilts often take 2 years or longer to complete but the group acts as cheerleaders and an admiration society for each other's work.
The group is open to anyone who would like to participate and are willing to take a turn as hostess and "teacher".  Contact Peggy if you want info on the new quilt project that will be starting in January
Current members are

Peggy N, Lana O, Christina N, Carollee H, Lorna H and Cathie D

Christmas Party 2014

New Friends Quilt Circle met in the evening on Dec 2 for our annual Christmas party.  Who doesn't love good food, good entertainment and good friends?
Yummy pot luck dinner was served and we got to spend time chatting with old and new friends about our lives and our quiltmaking.  After dinner we were entertained by friends of Peggy N with some lovely Christmas music both vocal and instrumental.  They had to jump in at the last minute and you never would have thought so as they were prepared so well.
After that we took the time to do an "Introduce your Neighbor" game around the room which allowed us to learn the names and often a little bit about members of the group who are "new" and who are in the night group for those who only come in the day or in the day group for those who only come at night.
Next we drew for the many many Christmas Fabric Block Challenge blocks that members created.  there were close to 100 blocks from 6.5" to 12" created from the fat eighths of fabric we gave out to do the challenge.  None of the blocks were the same and everyone had fun seeing what they might do with the fabrics.  Several members made more than one block which added to our total.
The winners of the blocks were
Jera Parker, Claudia Johnson and Carmen Martinez from the day group and JoAnn Abel of the Night Group..
We then did the gift exchange and speaking for myself I was so thrilled with my JoAnn Fabrics Gift card from Jill!
Last of all we did the drawing for the Opportunity Quilt and the name we pulled from the jar was Karen Ford who didn't answer and has not returned the call so a second name was drawn and that winner was our own Christina Nessler.
2014 was a wonderful year for New Friends and we have even more fun and learning in store for 2015!
See you in Pleasant Grove Jan 6 at 10 am to meet the board that Judy (2) has chosen and hear what is going to be coming for the year.
